About Riverbrook Bike & Ski Shop in Hayward, Wisconsin

Stone Grinding Skis at Riverbrook Bike and Ski - Seeley, WisconsinWhen you do business with the team at Riverbrook Bike and Ski in Hayward, Wisconsin, you're doing business with some of the most experienced and talented athletes and outdoor activity enthusiasts you can find anywhere.  We are committed to promoting the outdoor sports you love because we love them too. To that end, we offer products and services that will help you enjoy your adventures even more, and look darn good doing it! It's really all about pegging the fun meter in the great outdoors through the silent sports of cycling and skiing; two sports we participate in with passion and commitment.  Moreover, we understand that these endeavors are a lifestyle choice many of us make, and there is great lifestyle clothing, sport specific clothing and gear, as well as equipment options that we offer that simply enhance that lifestyle.

Riverbrook's location is unique including our flagship store located in downtown Hayward, WI in the historic Carnegie Library building.  This location features several thousand square feet of retail and service space on two floor levels.

We are truly fortunate to be located in this special little corner of the world amidst some of the finest single track mountain biking anywhere (roughly 90 miles of dedicated forest single track, IMBA Epic status trail, IMBA Bronze Ride Center, plus another 200 miles of signed gravel and two-track). In the winter, the area features some of the finest cross country skiing in the world including the 107 km American Birkebeiner trail. We even have trails dedicated to amazing fat bike riding. If you love cycling and XC skiing, it really doesn't get any better than this!

Unlike many metropolitan dealers, we head right out the back door (day or night) when we want to test out the products we sell and service. Metro shops and online retailers talk a big game, but we live it! When Midwesterners talk about mountain bike single track nirvana, this is definitely high on the list! Matter of fact, you can ride right from the shop to access the awesome single track within the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Trail System.  (The Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival) starts on Main Street in Hayward passing right by our front doorstep!

If road or gravel riding is your passion, there are almost endless possibilities in our area. These roads offer some fabulous riding in the summertime, roller skiing in the fall, and of course fat biking when the conditions turn snowy. So while we don't have mountain canyons to climb, there's no shortage of challenge, beauty, and fun!

Tim Swift on the Birkie Trail, Christmas Day 2010As for cross country skiing?  Well, it simply doesn't get much better. Many refer to this specific area, the Hayward/Seeley/Cable area, as the Aspen of cross country skiing. (Ok, so we don't have the Caribou Club or The Ajax Tavern, but we do have Mooselips & The Sawmill down the block, and of course The Ideal Market/ Rivers Eatery   up the road in Cable, as well as the Angry Minnow (our favorite micro brewery) just down the road in Hayward ;>). The OO trailhead features full access to the world famous American Birkebeiner trail.  Also, the OO Trailhead features roughly 8K of lighted trails for cross country skiing after dark, and it is typically groomed to the 9's.

Just two miles outside of Hayward at the Hatchery Creek Trailhead you'll also find access to the Birkie ski trail, along with some lighted loops on the Hatchery Creek trails.  Starting at Hatchery offers over 40K of point to point skiing on the Birkie trail! Trails are typically groomed weekly for both classical and freestyle.

We test ski brands, wax, ski flex, base grinds, and the gear that we sell right here on the this trail system. So, if you're looking for the bottom line in cross country skiing, conditions on the Birkie Trail, mountain biking on CAMBA's trail system, fat biking, preparing to compete in one of the world class events in our area, road riding, or simply need some quality shop service there is no better resource than Riverbrook Bike and Ski. We're passionate about your sport!
